Kris Mayes stressed the urgency in her communications, highlighting the limited 30-day window from the scam date within which victims must file their claim if they wish to be considered for compensation.

“My office is happy to help any victim of crypto ATM fraud receive a refund they are entitled to under Arizona law,” Mayes stated.

Conditions of House Bill 2387?

Under the regulations of House Bill 2387, which became effective on September 26, 2025, crypto ATM operators are mandated to refund fraudulent transactions, including associated fees, provided victims meet certain eligibility criteria. These criteria include notifying relevant authorities within 30 days and providing verified fraud reports.

Classifying as new customers, those with less than ten days of usage under a given operator, the law keeps their daily transaction cap at $2,000, contrasting with $10,500 for longstanding users.

To fulfill eligibility, victims need to submit an official fraud determination issued either by the attorney general or a law enforcement body, within the specified timeframe of 30 days.
