Bitmine, the largest corporate Ethereum holder, has recently acquired 7,430 ETH, augmenting its already substantial cryptocurrency reserve. This addition, valued at about $14 million, accompanies the company’s broader strategy of increasing share repurchases, thereby enhancing its market position.
Approaching Milestone?
Bitmine’s latest acquisition has bolstered its holdings to approximately 5.78 million ETH, equating to nearly 4.8% of Ethereum’s existing supply. The company’s long-term goal is to secure 5% of ETH’s available market, reinforcing its commitment to the crypto space.
Publicly traded under BMNR, Bitmine witnessed a nearly 6% surge in its stock price, reaching $16.61. With its Ethereum assets valued at around $11 billion, Bitmine maintains its robust presence in digital assets, second only to Michael Saylor-led Strategy in total cryptocurrency holdings.
Why Shift Focus?
The modest ETH purchase marks one of Bitmine’s smallest weekly acquisitions since June 2025, driven by a shift in capital allocation priorities. Indeed, the company repurchased 5.5 million of its shares within the same timeframe, representing a strategic pivot. This move comes as Bitmine has consistently engaged in weekly Ethereum buys for over a year.
Lee articulated that the decreased acquisition rate is a deliberate result of reallocating resources towards share buybacks, albeit maintaining regular ETH purchases.
To put it in perspective, Bitmine added more than 111,000 ETH in a single week last May, emphasizing the recent slowdown now redirected towards shareholders.
What About Other Investments?
In its diverse portfolio, Bitmine holds 207 Bitcoins, alongside $385 million in liquid assets and significant stakes, including $180 million in Beast Industries and $58 million in Eightco Holdings.
A substantial portion of its Ethereum is vested in staking activities through its MAVAN validator platform, with 4.92 million ETH actively contributing to network security. This strategy is projected to yield $247 million per year in staking revenue.
- Bitmine’s Ethereum holdings now total 5.78 million ETH.
- Shares repurchased amounted to 5.5 million in the latest period.
- Projected annual staking revenue stands at $247 million.
With an assertive blend of reserve management and tactical acquisitions, Bitmine continues to exert substantial influence over the cryptocurrency sector while preparing the groundwork for sustained growth and profitability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
